Cat Approved Cat Scratcher

I have gotten various cat scratchers for various cats over the years. And this is the one that we still have that has been used by multiple cats. The first SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post that we purchased is over ten years old and is still in very good shape.

Our latest cat, Tori, has given our original SmartCat Scratcher her seal of approval. She took right to it, even though it definitely had scents from other cats on it. Tori was nine months old when we adopted her.

I recently purchased a second one, so now she has one upstairs on our main floor, and one downstairs as well.

Here she is after just checking out the new scratcher still in the box.

The instructions are very basic in putting it together. They were printed on a sticky label that was attached to the bottom of the base. There are dow rods to hold the two panels of the base together. And then there are two screws to secure the base to the bottom of the scratcher. A Phillips head screwdriver is needed to attach the screws. That's it. Then position it where you want it.

I like having our's near a wall; sometimes the cat will climb up the unit, between it and the wall.

Here is Tori eyeing up the top of the scratcher.

She had been eyeing up the window that was near and above my ellipitical. Perhaps she was checking out the logistics of the window from the new SmartCat Scratcher.

May your cat(s) enjoy it as much as ours have.

If you know of anyone who might like this for their cat(s), please share this post with them. Thank you.

Favorite Pet Strollers for Cats

Do you wish to take your indoor cat(s) outside? I did. I know how they love looking out the windows, especially when the window is open and they can breathe the outside air through the screen.

I've had cats before that we used to let outdoors, but ended up determining that it was better for them to be indoors in a safer environment, that was also flea free. So I made the venture to purchase a pet stroller. It looks similar to this one, but it didn't have a cup holder, which is actually a nice addition.

I also chose this style, because it has the upper and rear screen which allows the pet to look up and/or back at me. I think that helps to reassure them that you are nearby, and I can more easily see them.

It worked well for the both of our cats when they were smaller. Then I took them on individual rides so that they could move about more freely. If I were to get another pet stroller at some time, I think I'd go for for a larger option.

You can check out more pet stroller options here; this link goes to Amazon. I had read a review by an Amazon customer who said that at 30" x 13"" stroller worked well for her two cats to ride at the same time.

If your cat hasn't been on a stroller ride yet, then I recommend that you allow them time to get accustomed to the smells of it first, and getting them in and out of it while still indoors. If you have room inside, take them for little rides inside your home so that they are more familiar with riding in it before their first outdoor day ride.

Cute and Cool Cat Mugs for Cat Lovers

I bought my daughter a cat mug and she really likes it. Cats are both hers' and my favorite animal.

The designs are printed on the mugs by Zazzle.com, an online print on demand company.

This is me pictured with our cat Sunny. She is our tortoiseshell cat.

Below is a vignette of a painting that I did of Sunny. Isn't she pretty?

This next painting was done of our cat Muffin. She is a black and white tuxedo cat.

She looks quite handsome and happy. I painted her picture using pointillism.

This is the mug that I bought for my daughter. The blues go really well together.

We love to pet our cats. It helps to keep them calm and us too.

Any of the designs can be ordered on the mug style(s) of your choice.

How many cats do you have? We currently have one. Sunny and Muffin have passed on, and then we adopted Tori.

Keep Calm and Pet Cats Tee Shirts

If you're a cat lover like me, then you know that cats can have a calming affect, especially when you stop whatever else you're doing at the time, and focus on petting the cat.

I know that my cats really appreciate the attention when I am truly focused on them and their joy. I can tell a difference too in how I feel too.

This tshirt can be a fun reminder to you and to anyone reading it, to Keep Calm and Pet Cats.

And when we pet them to their satisfaction, they sometimes lovingly reward us with a purr.

Acrobat Cat Cards and Shirts

As we know, cats are very flexible; some might even say acrobatic. Do you like the positions that your cats can get in to? Do they remind you of an acrobat? They also remind me of many yoga poses.

If your cats positions bring a smile to your face, you'll probably enjoy the designs below.

First, is a vintage style design of a balancing cat act. If these cats were on America's Got Talent, I would surely vote for them. These postcards are purr-fect to send with your friendly greetings.

I've seen videos of dogs walking on their front legs; I guess that cats can do it too. This design can be ordered on the note card or the greeting card size.

Do your cats stretch out across the floor, as if they were gliding or flying? Mine do. I did the original painting from my cat doing just that. This cute design is printed on t-shirts; it's a fun gift for cat lovers of all ages. You can also select the tshirt style that you like best.

I hope that you enjoyed my selection and that you have a purr-fect day.

Any of the above items are printed by Zazzle.com, a print on demand company. You can click on the picture links above to view pricing and more options.

Cat Face Tshirts, Sweatshirts, and Hoodies

Does your cat like to get up in your face? I know that ours do, especially our tuxedo cat. I know it's because she loves me. Perhaps that is why we like cats so much. I also like doing paintings of them.

This is a vignette portrait of our tuxedo cat printed on a tshirt. After clicking on the link, you can choose any shirt style, including sweatshirts and hoodies.

Our other cat is a tortoise shell. She likes to set the terms. She is not so much a face cat, but will sometimes lay in my lap, but usually she lays next to my legs. Sometimes, though, the two of them will want the same spot! : )

For a mandala of cat faces, check out this tshirt. Four cat faces are arranged in a circle pattern, that is printed on any shirt style of your choice.

You can check out more of my cat shirts at CherylsArt on Zazzle.com. You can also choose a different style shirt, color, and/or size.

Wishing you a purr-fect day. : )

Favorite Cat Designs

Here you will find various products with some of my favorite cat designs on them.

First is a favorite painting I did of our tuxedo cat, Muffin. She is black and white, and looks so happy. It seems appropriate that she is shown on Happy Birthday cards:

This beautiful design, by Bebops, features a trait that cats seem to do best. They get so engaged in watching whatever is out the window. The mousepad seems like a fun choice for this design.

This fun painting depicts our two cats doing some bird watching. This design is printed on jigsaw puzzles for some additional fun.

This next design is colorful and creative. It features a painting of a black cat that is decorated with flowers that are supposed to be safe for cats should they eat them.

Fun Cat Toys to Play with your Cats

I have found that cats change over time and so does their preference of toys. But I will share with some of the toys that they have found the most exciting.

The first one is the turbo ball cat scratcher. Sometimes they both played with it at the same time. That was really cool. It usually began with me playing with one of the cats and then the other cat took an interest to see what was going on. This one worked best when they still had kitten energy in them.

One of their longest lasting toys as popularity goes is the Cat Dancer Charmer, also known as a wand toy. They come in a variety of dangling toys. The first one they had, had soft fleece like fabric on the end of a wand. Both cats enjoyed going after the colorful strip of fabric whenever a human was holding the other end, and dangling it around. This toy can encourage jumping, leaping, rolling and grabbing, and more. It is an overall fun toy.

One of our cats also enjoyed dragging the Cat Charmer around. She dragged it up the stairs, down the stairs, into a room where I was sitting, etc. Then she meowed loudly to let us know that she brought us a gift.

Our current cat loves the worm teaser cat wand toy the best. It wiggles and squiggles as you hold the wand and make it jump, etc. This is her overall pick of the wand toys.

This next cat toy is very simple and does not require any special purchase. Find a lid from a soda or water bottle and toss it on the floor. Our cats have loved batting these little lids around. When they bat them just right, they can also pick them up by the edge and carry one around.

Which cat toy above do you think your cat(s) would like?

Does your cat have a favorite toy that I didn't mention? Feel free to share with us in the comments.

Do your cats like to chew? Chew toys for Cats.

When I was a kid, we often got chew toys for our dogs to enjoy, but I had never given any thought about getting chew toys for our cats.

Then when our cat Sunny came in to our life, lo and behold, she liked to chew. I would hold a dog's little knobby bone out to her, and she would chew on it.

cat with chew toy

The next time I went to the pet store, I did find chew toys that were made for cats.

The pretzel chew toys are soft and are covered in a mesh, that is supposed to help keep the cat's teeth clean. Both cats loved chewing on these; but who knows where all they take them? Our cats enjoyed some chew time and then carried them off to find again later. So sometimes I have tied a couple of the chew toys up, from a door knob, so at least some of them can easily be found.

They always seem more enticing while the catnip scent is still fresh. I did throw a couple in the laundry and washed them, they came out looking nice, however, they will take a sprinkling of catnip to get the cats interested in them again. That does work out pretty well, but not as well as when they are fresh from the store.

This one is a circle shape with little bump outs around the outer edge. The little cloth tie ons seem appealing to our cats; These are also easy to throw and get the cat's attention, as it can roll and bounce.
